Carl's Castles are
pleased to receive delivery of their first electric vehicle.
Carl's castles plan to
reduce their carbon footprint as much as possible, and this is a
great start! Less pollution, less CO2, better planet for our
children.
|
|
|
|
This vehicle will not produce
any pollution or CO2, directly. As the batteries are currently charged
using mains electricity, and, at present there is no guarantee that the
electricity was produced using renewable energy, the next stage is to
produce their own electricity, is sufficient quantities to offset the
battery charging consumption. Currently, tests are being carried out to
determine the consumption used by the charging cycle. |

Currently the van is
configured as a caged pickup truck. Modifications will convert this into
a van. This will enable Carl's castles to use this van, whatever the
weather.
Pictures of the progress of
this will be posted at the bottom of this page. |

The drawbacks to this type of truck is the
range, and to a lesser degree, speed.
Therefore, Carl's Castles will not be able to
use this van for all deliveries.
However, they will endeavour to use it as
much as possible. Other vehicles in the fleet used for the business (as
well as personal, where possible) will be using biofuel. Whilst this is
not the best solution, at least it is not fossil fuel, and will act as a
bridge, until technology advances to the state where all of the fleet
will be electric vehicles. (Whether Hydrogen Fuel Cell, or using
advanced battery technology.) More on the Stage 3 page. |
